The Commissioning of the 76.78KM Alao Akala Road

On Thursday 30th May 2024, the 76.78km Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Expressway was officially opened. The ceremony occurred on a section of the Road in Ogbomosho, Oyo State. The Road is aimed at facilitating free movement and linking Ogbomoso/Iseyin together with people and goods. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in the development of the region, enhancing connectivity, fostering economic growth, and improving the quality of life for the people. Among the event's dignitaries was Nigerian Vice President, His Excellency, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, GCON, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The Chairman APWEN Ibadan Chapter, Engr. Abisola Adabanija gave her goodwill message, stating the role of female engineers and women in society in driving progress and innovations; leveraging skills and expertise towards contributing meaningfully to the development of our communities. In appreciation, she extended her profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE for making another history in constructing and commissioning the Road. The Technical Secretary, APWEN Ibadan Chapter, Engr. Dr Kafayat Ajibola and other APWEN members from the Ibadan and Ogbomosho Chapter were also in attendance.
